Brazil: Akhannouch represents the king at President Lula's investiture ceremony.

Aziz Akhannouch, the head of state, Sunday attended Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's investiture ceremony on behalf of King Mohammed VI.

After attending the solemn inauguration ceremony for the new president of Brazil and his vice president, Geraldo José Rodrigues de Alckmin Filho, Akhannouch was welcomed by Lula Da Silva and his vice president at the Palacio Planalto, which houses the executive branch of government.

In a message of congratulations sent to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on the occasion of his election, King Mohammed VI expressed his appreciation for the strong ties of friendship and productive cooperation that unite the Federal Republic of Brazil and the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as his determination to work with Lula da Silva to establish a multifaceted strategic partnership between the two nations.

The 77-year-old progressive leader was elected to his third term as president after losing the second round of voting on October 30 with 50.9% of the vote (49.1% went to Bolsonaro). He previously served as president from 2003 and 2010. Over fifty foreign delegations, including 17 heads of state, attended this ceremony.
